The Joy of Summer

WOW! What a whirlwind of activity we have had at the McCullough home! Jennifer came home as planned on July 1. It is so great to have her home. What a joy she is! She is working at IMC in the NICU and doing well. She has a friend coming on Aug. 27 from Guatemala, so we are all looking forward to that. She is settling in and cleaning out. Boy it is so great to have someone come in and take charge. She has cleaned out the laundry room and a storage closet. I love it! It's great to have a voice of reason saying "Mom, do you REALLY need that craft book?!" DI is lovin us.

As you know Marissa, Jake and Sydney moved in around the corner from us and oh what fun! I love that they can drop in whenever. We (the girls) cleaned out Marissa's front flower bed and it looks beautiful! No plants yet, just a rock garden at the moment, but we were quite pleased with ourselves.

Also this summer I went to girls camp at Heber Valley Camp and it was fabulous! There was a challenge course and I did the "big swing" and oh what a rush! It was great. They said they could hear my yells all over the course! No one ever said I was quiet! I learned how to download a Youtube video to my desktop and make a slide show with music and special effects for our spiritual activiy night. So many new things, I feel like I have actually accomplished something this summer.

The boys, Spencer, Matt and Preston went on a High Adventure trip with the Young men at church and had a blast! I will post pictures soon. They went canoeing, river rafting and also had a challenge course called C.O.P.E. They came home sunburned, skinned up and bruised, but had fun in the process. School starts on Aug. 25. Preston is in 9th and Matt is in 11th. It will be nice to get back to a routine and hopefully a bedtime that is not 2:00am like it has been all summer!

Brandon's birthday is Aug. 26, so drop him a line. I'm sure he would love to hear from you.

Sorry I've been so slothful in keeping up my blog, but hopefully I can now do better!

Sounds like you have had a fun summer. I can't believe your boys are that old!!!! If they are getting old what does that mean for the rest of us?

I don't know about you, but I am ready to say "buh bye" to summer.

I am so ready for summer to be over. I think I lost half my brain! But then all the homework, getting up for early morning seminary, lunch money, rides...oh the joy of school! But at least it's a routine. No more late nights for the boys.
