On Wednesday, April 28, 2010, Marissa gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! What an amazing experience. Marissa had studied the Hypnobirthing technique and had decided to go natural. This made me happy because 6 of my 7 births were natural. I knew she could do it. She asked me to be her "Doula". Jake was her coach of course! What a great team they were. The nurse was so excited they were doing this, she dimmed the lights, brought out the birthing ball, which Jake sat on at the end of Marissa's bed the whole time. The nurse also showed Jake this pressure point right below the knee to use during contractions. It worked like a charm! After they broke her water, we "Chipped her up". Using Cieaura pain and energy chips, she was ready to go.
Marissa was awesome! She stayed focused and calm and I am so proud of her. I know the no meds way is not for everyone, but I just loved the experience every time I gave birth and I am so happy that Marissa was able to have that same experience. There is something about be so in control of your body, working with the contractions and helping this little one into the world. I know I'm weird, but I loved the feeling of accomplishment!
How grateful I am that Beckett arrived healthy and strong. He weighed 8lbs 12oz and was 20 1/4 inches long. And he is beautiful, but I already said that huh?
